Introduction [00:00]
Your Exam Simulator allows you to take either exams or quizzes. And right now, I am going to show you how to start a quiz. But before we get started, we have to talk about the question pool because The Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam Simulator™ offers a separate question pool for the Premium Exams and a separate question pool for the Premium Quizzes. While the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Simulators have a combined question pool for exams and quizzes together. You can see this much better here in this image.
On the left, you see that the PMP SImulator has two separate question pools, one from Premium Exams, and one from Premium Quizzes. And on the right, you can see that the PMI-ACP and CAPM Simulators have a combined question pool. In this way, the PMP Simulator allows you to take quizzes that are completely separate from the exam unless you overwrite it. And with that, let’s now start a quiz. Here we go! Timed and Learning Quizzes.
Quiz Engine [01:07]
This opens up in a new window, and as you can at the top left, I have started a PMP quiz. If you are starting an ACP quiz or a CAPM quiz, then the type and number of selection criteria that you have here will be different depending on the quiz. Also, PMI regularly updates and adjusts its exams, so what you see right now may change in a month or two because PMI makes changes to the exams. Okay.
Select Quiz Mode [01:39]
So what do we have? You can start a Timed quiz. That means you have a specific number of seconds for each question, so there is time pressure. Or you can say, “No, I don’t want to be time-pressured. I want a Learning quiz.” And that’s what we are going to do right now.
Number of Questions and ‘Select Criteria’ [01:56]
The number of questions, this is self-explanatory. I’m going to take 20 questions. Do I want to take random questions, or do I want to have it maybe only from the People domain here? Then yes, I want to do that. And this is probably where the biggest difference is between the various exams, the domains, the knowledge areas, the chapters; all of this is different from exam type to exam type.
Include Questions [02:25]
Here next, I want to include all questions, only questions that I have not answered yet, or only those I answered incorrectly, right? I’m going to say, “Include all questions.” I wanted to see all of them.
ITTO and Exam Questions [02:38]
And now, the next two, they are particularly important for the PMP Exam. And to explain those two, let me bring the two windows next to each other here. Wait, that did not work. There we go, next to each other, okay. So if I select “Include ITTO Exam, Yes.” This means that now, the system will take all the questions that are here in the separate quiz pool, and it will also take the questions from down here from this ITTO Exam.
Exam Questions [03:19]
And if I say, “Include Exam questions,” no or yes? If I select “Yes,” now it will also include all the questions from the Premium Exams. Remember I told you that with the PMP® Exam Simulator™, we have a separate quiz pool unless you overwrite it, and this is where you overwrite it.
Both at no means; I’m only taking questions from up here. And then I can select both at “Yes,” and now the questions are taken from both areas. And I’m going to reset this here back to “No.” Okay! Let me go back to this window here.
Learning Quiz Mode [04:00]
And now, we can start this. There we go! Well, there we are. The system has now selected 20 questions in the backend and random and has given those to me. Actually, not random. I select it from the People domain, didn’t I? You also noticed that there is no countdown timer. So there is absolutely no time pressure.
Show Hint and Show Answer [04:23]
I would assume that you have already watched the general explanation on how to use the Exam Simulator™, so I’m not going to explain the Show Grid, the Mark, and all the other features that we have. But here in the Timed and Learning quiz, you also have the “Show hint” and “Show answer” button, quite self-explanatory. Press Show hint, and a hint is displayed that might help you identify what the correct answer could be. Hide it again. And if you still don't know, you can display the complete answer. Now you know, A is the correct answer and like “Yes, of course. I should have known this,” and you can make your selection like that. And go to “Next.” Alright!
Closing [05:10]
And yeah, that’s really it at this point! This is how you start a Timed and Learning quiz. I think the biggest difference and the most important feature to understand is the difference in the separate question pools that we have for PMP and the combined question pool that we have for the PMI-ACP and the CAPM.
